Overview:

The AIM-2005(R) unit is designed to accept up to five data acquisition cards that support various interfaces. All AIM units can use external recorders. The unit includes an Overhead (OVH- 300) processor card, a Time / CAIS Bus Mezzanine (RCI-305) card, and Removable Solid- State Memory. Acquired input data is multiplexed into a single high-speed data transport stream that is carried over electrical Fibre Channel to the solid-state memory. The AIM-2005(R) accepts IRIGB AC or DC time for purposes of supporting IRIG chapter 4 for selected data via the CAIS bus as well as IRIG chapter 10 for recorded data time tagging. The unit can also operate as a CAIS remote data acquisition unit. This capability allows the user to capture selected data from incoming data sources (such as PCM, 1553, IEEE-1394b, Fibre Channel, Etc.), as well as providing Cards/Unit/ Recorder status to a CAIS controller for transmission of flight safety data.
