Network Data Selector and Network to PCM Gateway

The nGWY-2000 connects to the network side of the acquisition system and performs parameter selection for the incoming multicast data packets. The packets chosen for parameter selection are determined by the group of multicast addresses the Data Selector is programmed to listen for.

When a packet is processed, the Data Selector chooses one or more parameters from each message for placement in the customer-predefined IRIG Chapter 4 format. During this placement process, the unit performs timing adjustments to the incoming data packets in order to realign the parameters in a manner consistent for updating the outgoing PCM frames. The Data Selector can operate at up to 20 megabits per second and is used in conjunction with a PCM transmitter for providing Safety Of Flight (SOF) functionality for an airborne networked data acquisition system.

The Data Selector is a necessary component if transmission is required in either a PCM/network hybrid system or a network-only system. iNET is currently defining its IP transceiver for communication to and from an airborne test article to the ground receiving equipment. iNET also assumes that serial streaming transmission will coexist with the transceiver communications. The Data Selector performs the necessary tasks to support this capability.
