The Model 5960 is a high-speed modem designed to facilitate point-to-point data communications. Because of the modem's spectral efficiency, many users can be accommodated in a small amount of bandwidth over broadband coax, modulated fiber or wideband microwave. The Model 5960 provides complete data rate and frequency flexibility with front panel touch pad or remote interface selection of all modem parameters. This allows new data channels to be inserted in currently unused frequencies. The Model 5960 shares a common medium with the audio and video signals without causing interference. Using the Model 5960 with its optional internal bridge or an external router allows networks to be easily bridged. Data rates from 56 Kbps to 15 Mbps cover most all the common requirements including T1, E1 and 10 Mbps. Similarly, a wide variety of popular interfaces including Ethernet are available. The interfaces are easily changed by the user without the requirement of factory return.
